Below is the list of frequently asked questions.

Thermal Glass Coat is a revolutionary nano technology. It’s a double glazing and window film alternative to glass insulation. It’s a liquid, that turns your ordinary windows into high performing insulation glass.

We basically paint it onto your windows. A roller is used to spread the liquid across the glass. When it cures, your window is clear.

In the winter, the heat you generate inside your home, is absorbed into the glass, forming a heat curtain, or barrier. Neither Double Glazing or window film can does this, which is why the coating is so effective. Normally, if you stand near your windows when the room is cold, you will feel the cold air near the glass. With Thermal Glass Coat, because the glass warms up, as the room warms up, this does not happen. In the summer, the process is reversed. The thermal barrier is formed on the outside, so the heat from the sun, cannot bake your home or business.

Based on Thermal Glass Coat coated on 6mm clear float glass, it can reject a total solar radiation of about 50 %, these includes up to 90 % of IR, 99 % of UV and 15 % of visible light.

Solar radiation rejection on 6mm clear float glass is 20%. After application it is 46%, including 99% harmful UV and up to 90% IR. Hence, Thermal Glass Coat will help to create a more conducive living environment while you can enjoy clear view and maximise natural light harvesting for the reduction of artificial lighting.

(How does Thermal Glass Coated glass offer heat reduction?)
Unlike most tinted glass, which blocks most of the visible light and allows transmission of the IR, Thermal Glass Coat blocks the solar IR to 90% while allowing high visible light transmission of 72%. That means Thermal Glass Coat coated glass allows more light transmission rather than heat.

No, the visible light transmission(VLT) drops by only 10~14%. For example, based on 6mm clear float glass, before coating VLT is 88% and after coating is 72% but it can still cut off up to 90% IR and 99%.UV.

Tinted glass can reduce heat. However, the trade off is it also reduces the VLT (light) darkening the room considerably. But Thermal Glass Coat coating lets the natural light in, while providing UV cut up to 99% and IR cut up to 90%.

On average, in summer Thermal Glass Coat reduces temperature around 5-10 degC.

Total solar spectrum covers from 280nm to 2,500nm which consists of UV, Visible light and Infrared. Each of them typically occupies 2%, 47% and 51% of total solar energy respectively. Therefore, while Thermal Glass Coat coating only transmits 10% of Infrared, there are still about 50% of solar energy which comes from UV and Visible light, to be addressed. Hence Solar transmittion 55% is the result.

Thermal Glass Coat provides a slight reduction in VLT (Visable Light), resulting in slightly less glare.
The focus of Thermal Glass Coat is to harvest the VLT to the maximum level.

Thermal Glass Coat coating chemically bonds to the glass, there is no adhesive; therefore it can not bubble.

Once it is cured, it forms the structure similar to that of the glass with minimal distortion.

Thermal Glass Coat has similar composition to the glass. Thermal Glass Coat is chemically bonded to the glass without using adhesive. It won’t bubble and peel off from the glass surface like film. Thermal Glass Coat provide 10 years warranty against cracking, bubbling and peeling.

The thickness of Thermal Glass Coat is an average of 7 micrometer while most films are about 40 micrometer thick. (Depending on films).

Thermal Glass Coat doesn’t change any glass safety specification, which means if the original glass is supposed to break at certain impact, it does break.

The Hardness of Thermal Glass Coat coating is 6H. However, it is not scratch-proof.

Thermal Glass Coat coating is combustion resistance.

Thermal Glass Coat gives up to 10 years warranty against bubbling, peeling and cracking.

No limit on height. Width can be as wide as 4m.

The minimum size window is 450mm x 500mm

Unlike film, which comes with fixed size, Thermal Glass Coat coating is seamless. You won’t see any joints on the coated glass.

Thermal Glass Coat cannot be applied on coated glass surface such as reflective glass (coated side), low e glass (coated side), frosted glass (treated side), decorative (printed side) and wire glass.

Thermal Glass Coat is mainly used in interior coating but can also be used for exterior coating in some circumstances.

Thermal Glass Coat slight bluey green tinge, ensuring clear view with low haze level,

Depending on the windows sizes and access a 2 person team can apply about 25sqm per day.

No. The film needs to be removed before applying the liquid on the glass.

It contains solvents and it will dissipate after the coating becomes touch dry and ventilation can be turn on or windows opened. The coating is usually touch dry within a couple of hours.
If you are sensitive to the smell, it is advisable not to stay in the area during application and for a few hours afterwards.

We minimise the air born dust particles by asking that you thoroughly dust & vacuum prior to our arrival, and turn off any fans and ventilation that can disturb the air. During the cleaning process we wipe down all the joinery with a damp cloth, this helps settle any dust, and out drop sheets are all lint free and we use those where ever possible to work and walk on to reduce the likely hood of raising dust particles. Also getting the right humidity balance helps.

No. Coating will be done on site, without removing the glass from the frames.

By controlling the amount of the liquid on the specific area at the specific ratio.
All authorised applicators are trained to follow the application instructions, which are designed to make sure uniform finish of the coating.
It also has a self-levelling property to spread uniformly if proper application process is observed.
Maintenance of Thermal Glass Coat

You can wash the window by using soft cloth and mild detergent. Do Not use any acidic or alkaline detergent.
