Table showing the before & after Window Profile readings

Ultra Violet Transmission – The percentage of Ultra Violet light being transmitted through the window – The lower the % the greater the UV protection
Visible Light Transmission – The percentage of Visible (Natural Light) being transmitted through the window – The higher the better, means more natural light, brighter.
Infrared Transmission – Infrared energy is that part of the energy spectrum that our eyes cannot see, but our bodies detect as heat. This transmission value is an indication of how effective the window glass is at blocking the Near & Far Infrared Energy (Heat) from passing through the window – the lower the value the less heat is able to transmit through the glass.

SHGC – Represents the amount of heat from the sun allowed to pass through the window. The lower the value the better, 1 = No glass

Measurements of Heat Transmitted through Glass Samples by:-
a) BTU Meter – watts/sqm
b) Glass Energy Profiler – % transmitted (passed) through

DG = Standard Retrofit Double Glazing
Low-E DG = Standard Retrofit Double Glazing, one pane being Low-E Glass
TGC = Has THERMAL Glass Coat applied

Window Profiler Readings – Typical Results Achieved

BTU – Stands for British Thermal Unit, it is a measure of heat energy. Watts/sqm. One BTU corresponds to the amount of thermal (heat) energy required to heat one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit. eg. When buying a BBQ you should note it’s heat output by checking it’s BTU output.

IR – Infrared Transmission – Infrared energy is that part of the energy spectrum that our eyes cannot see, but our bodies detect as heat. This transmission value is an indication of how effective the window glass is at blocking the Near & Far Infrared Energy (Heat) from passing through the window – the lower the value the less heat is able to transmit through the glass.

Ultra Violet Transmission – The percentage of Ultra Violet Light being transmitted through the window – The lower the % the greater the UV protection

Visible Light Transmission – The percentage of Visible Light (Natural Light) being transmitted through the window – The higher the better, means more natural light, brighter.

SHGC – Represents the amount of heat from the sun allowed to pass through the window. The lower the value the better, 1 = No glass
