I live in a north-facing home built in the early 1980s, so it is single glazed. Combined with an open-plan design, the house is freezing and hard to heat in winter, way too hot in summer, and suffers from UV damage.
The cost of retrofit double glazing was beyond reach, so I began researching other options. I came across Thermal Glass Coat and arranged a consultation. Carole visited with her husband, explained the process, and provided a quote.
If I’m completely honest, while I hoped for an improvement, I didn’t believe it could deliver what they promised. But was I wrong — my home has been transformed! Since the treatment was applied, the heat retention is amazing. I lit the fire on the first night and usually it struggles to provide significant warmth; within 40 minutes I was in a t-shirt.

Nigh on one and a half years ago we were attracted by the properties of window thermal coating. Because it appeared to be the answer to our problem, we contracted Carole and Seton to coat our dining room windows to protect the curtains from UV.
They arrived to do the job and quickly gave us confidence in their workmanship through their attention to detail. A year later — February 2023 — being mightily impressed with the result, and noticing how much warmer the house was in winter, we engaged Carole and Seton once more to do the bulk of the house.

Our apartment is north-facing in a high-rise in Auckland CBD. It would get so hot in summer it was unbearable, and the air conditioner wasn’t able to keep up. These seriously cold nights and mornings are a reminder to us all that winter has indeed arrived. Because I am very aware of the amount of heat that escapes through windows, I did some research on the many options available to reduce this heat loss and save on power consumption while staying comfortable indoors. Many thanks for your team’s great work. It was efficiently done with minimal disruption apart from moving a bit of furniture around. We have noted an immediate drop in temperature during the day in our north-facing front bedroom that gets full sun. It used to feel like a furnace on entering it during the day, and it is so much more pleasant to enter at night to go to bed. The house overall is very stable in temperature, and even with cooler autumn temperatures overnight the house temperature does not drop overnight.

We have a renovated villa in Onehunga. The kids’ bedrooms face south and have quite big windows, so the rooms are very cold in winter and we used oil column heaters to keep them warm.
After having the coating applied, we had to go and buy smaller heaters because we could not turn the heater down far enough to keep the rooms at the temperature we wanted. A good problem, we thought — but we didn’t really expect that sort of result, so we are very happy.

As soon as I came home from work, I noticed the difference. My home in Hastings felt warmer when I came home from work, and was warmer in the morning as well. I first got it in the summer and it really helped to keep my house cooler, but now I’m finding great benefits in the winter too. I need the heating on less than last winter, even though it’s been colder in Hawke’s Bay. The best part is it not being so cold in the mornings, and there being hardly any condensation on the windows. We recently had Thermal Glass Coat applied to our bedroom windows and I honestly noticed the difference from the very first night.
Our bedroom used to become extremely hot in summer, but in winter it was so cold I almost felt like I needed to wear a woolly hat to bed. The cold from the windows seemed to create a constant cold draught around my head while I was trying to sleep.
The very first night after the coating was applied, the room felt noticeably warmer and so much cosier. I was genuinely amazed at the difference. Best of all, that cold draught feeling around my head completely disappeared.
The room temperature now feels far more comfortable and stable, and we still have clear windows and natural light.
I honestly couldn’t believe the difference Thermal Glass Coat made, and would happily recommend it to anyone wanting a more comfortable home.

We have a number of large windows in my three-bedroom, 100m² house — especially in the living room, which has windows on three sides including a full glass wall.
Before last winter I decided to coat all of the windows in my home, and indeed that winter was very different for me — very much warmer. (I already had insulation in the floor and ceiling.)
After getting the coating applied I no longer needed to use the oil heaters, as the log burner was enough to keep the warmth inside my home. After the winter I also noted I actually used less firewood than I had in previous years.
