About Us
Warmer homes, less sun damage — without replacing your windows
Thermal Glass Coat is a clear, liquid insulation coating for glass. It’s applied by a trained technician directly onto your existing windows, where it cures and chemically bonds to the glass. It isn’t a film and it isn’t a sticker — nothing is stuck on with adhesive, so there’s nothing to bubble, peel or lift over time.
Once cured, it’s virtually invisible. There’s only a very slight blue-green tint in certain light, which most people never notice — and it won’t affect your view or your privacy.
Where the technology comes from
This is advanced window-insulation nano-technology developed in Japan, where it is now well established. Much of the drive behind it came after the 2011 Fukushima disaster, when Japan set out to reduce its reliance on nuclear power and cut energy use across high-rise buildings, businesses and homes. Significant research went into coatings that make glass far more energy-efficient — and this coating is one of the results.
That technology is now available in New Zealand through Thermal Glass Coat, and the coating has been used in homes and commercial buildings internationally for over a decade.
What it actually does
The coating works by reflecting infrared energy — keeping the warmth from your heating inside during winter, and blocking radiant heat from coming in during summer. It also blocks up to 99% of UV rays while still letting natural light through, which is what protects your furniture, carpets, curtains and floors from fading.
Because it’s painted on with a roller, it coats curved and contoured glass smoothly, and large panes can be coated without any seams or joins.
Who it’s a good fit for
Thermal Glass Coat tends to suit three kinds of homeowner:
- You have single glazing and want warmer winters and cooler summers, without the cost and disruption of full double glazing.
- You’ve invested in double glazing but some rooms still aren’t performing — either the temperature isn’t improving enough, or UV is still coming through.
- You have double glazing but you’re watching your furnishings fade, and you want that UV protection sorted without replacing the windows.
If any of that sounds familiar, it’s likely a good fit — and we’re happy to talk it through with no obligation.
Where we work
Thermal Glass Coat serves homes and commercial buildings across Auckland, the Waikato, the Bay of Plenty, and Hawke’s Bay (Hastings/Napier). Application is carried out by trained local technicians with minimal noise, mess and disruption — most jobs take from half a day to two days depending on size, and the coating is touch-dry within a couple of hours and fully cured in about seven days.
